Flextraction represents fan manufacturer 'Sodeca s.a' in the UK

Flextraction represents fan manufacturer 'Sodeca s.a' in the UK

Flextraction has been appointed by Sodeca s.a, the Barcelona based manufacturer of industrial and commercial fans, to represent them throughout the UK.

SODECA has a superb product range which fits in perfectly with all our existing products. We can now offer our customers some very exciting, innovative products including axial, centrifugal, roof and centrifugal smoke exhaust fans for a wide variety of applications, such as shipbuilding, boiler rooms, oven re-circulation, wood and ceramic dryers, moisture and smoke extraction, painting and bulk product packaging, handling booths, grain and other agricultural products storage as well as domestic uses.

Lee Darton said: “Sodeca is a major player in the European fan market. This agreement allows us to broaden our existing range of fans for the heating and ventilation market to incorporate axial and centrifugal fans, large and small, with the ability to extract smoke at 400°C over a 2 hr period. It also gives us a wide and extensive range of excellent roof and ceiling fans, as well as ATEX fans and great accessories, including sound dampening enclosures, silencers and grills.

SODECA has a brilliant software package which assists us in selecting the right style and type of fan for the application, all at the touch of a button. If anyone would like to see how this could help them get the right product for their job, just give me a call on... 01664 - 410 641”

Flextraction helps UNISTRUT Ltd to re-locate and upgrade their extraction system

Flextraction helps UNISTRUT Ltd to re-locate and upgrade their extraction system

When Unistrut Ltd made the strategic decision to relocate their manufacturing, warehousing and distribution to one central location within the West Midlands by moving from Oldbury to West Bromwich, about 2.5 miles down the road, they turned to Flextraction to help them dismantle and re-install, as well as upgrade, their existing fume and dust extraction systems.

Unistrut supplies metal framing, cable management and pipe support products to the electrical, mechanical and industrial services industries throughout the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East & Africa). Significant projects include cable trays to the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow and channels to the £75 million refurbishment of the M25 Holmesdale tunnel.

Some of the extraction systems at Oldbury were relatively new and others were in good condition, so Unistrut decided not to buy complete new systems, but to utilise their existing system. Following a number of meetings with Flextraction, they contracted them to carry out the dismantling, undertake any needed refurbishment, install new equipment where required and re-locate it all to West Bromwich. Flextraction were happy to work to a timetable decided upon by Unistrut Maintenance Engineers, although these timetables were often revised at short notice; the re-location took just 4 weeks to complete.

Eric Shropshall, Production Engineer at Unistrut said: “The complete fabrication shop was moved including a robot welding cell, continuous MIG seam welding machine, MIG welding benches plus 2 cable ladder MIG welding benches all of which required fume and dust extraction systems. All this equipment is used to weld carbon and stainless steel bracket assemblies for our Metal Framing Systems including cantilever brackets. We also weld cable ladders in widths from 150mm to 900mm and depths from 100mm to 150mm, with all their necessary accessories to provide safe and effective management of heavy duty electrical cabling.”

Lee Darton, Flextraction’s Sales Manager said: “Through a third party recommendation we were given overall responsibility for carrying out the project. In addition to the re-location we manufactured and supplied a new extraction system for 2 cable ladder welding jigs using lip extraction, which uses long extraction manifolds mounted under the welding area to extract the welding fumes downwards away from the welder's face. This was a new concept for Unistrut and has resulted in a cleaner working atmosphere.”

Eric Shropshall continued: “In addition to the ladder jig extraction and refurbishment of some of our equipment, Flextraction installed new more efficient fans to aid extraction. We currently discharge our welding fumes into the outside atmosphere, but we are currently working to use filtered units, which will allow us to re-circulate clean air back into the workshop and reduce our heating costs. The only problems we encountered were difficulties supporting the 8 ductwork stacks on the side of our building, fortunately Flextraction came up with a solution using some of our own products to construct framework to support the structures and spread the loads.

We have been impressed by the service from Flextraction and their ability to react quickly to our requirements and find solutions to any problems we incurred. The result is that our fabrication shop has a better working environment.”

New - Wet Dust Separator

New - Wet Dust Separator

A new TEKA HNW1500 high performance Wet Dust Separator is now available through Flextraction Ltd.  The HNW1500 Wet Dust Separator is one of a series with airflows ranging from 1,500m3/hr through to 10,000m3/hr. The motor sizes range from 1.5kW 400V 50Hz up to 15.0kW 400V 50Hz.

With its high dust collection capacity it is designed for a wide range of industrial applications. The air is cleaned by swirling the dust with water, with the air being centrifuged in the W-swirl, which was originally designed for the separation of explosive dusts and adopted for use with this Wet Dust Separator Dust particles in the air flow are enclosed in the water due to the strong turbulence in the swirl.

Water in this separator can be used again and again and pumps or nozzles are not used. A robust high performance is utilised providing continuous operation of the separator. The arrangement of the impeller, the fan achieves a high negative pressure.

Getting to know us...

We thought it may be of interest for you to meet some of the personalities here at Flextraction - a chance to put a face to the voice. So in this edition, let's introduce you to some of them.....

My name is Rosemary Barrett...

My name is Rosemary Barrett...

I am the Sales Office Manager, handling general non-technical sales enquiries, processing and following up quotations. I also liaise with customers, process orders, keep records, statistics and generally take care of the Sales Office administration functions.

I started working with Wally and John in 1994, prior to the formation of the Company in 1997. I have worked on accounts, administration and secretarial duties. I have also worked with Lee supporting internal sales and marketing, so I have had quite a few roles.

I see my role as being supportive, ensuring the Sales Office runs smoothly. I like the contact I have with customers, helping support our sales team. Most of all I am glad to be part of Flextraction’s happy and successful family.
I live in a village 2-3 miles away with my husband and two crazy cats. I enjoy my family’s company. My two sons with their partners live nearby. I also have two little grand-daughters. I enjoy going to the theatre and I am a ‘Front of House’ volunteer at the Melton Mowbray Theatre

For over 11 years I have been a keen line dancer, It’s addictive, even though it means being teased constantly. I also enjoy working and sitting in my garden on sunny days.

My name is David Clanchy...

My name is David Clanchy...

I work in Telephone Sales, following up enquiries and quotations. I also seek out new sales leads for our Sales Engineers and carry out other clerical duties.

I joined Flextraction as a workshop operative about 3 ½ years ago. Although having passed the age of 65 years, I still regard myself as a key member of staff contributing to customer care. I believe in good telephone manners linked to good communication skills.

Happily married for 42 years, my wife and I are long standing season ticket holders with Leicester City Football Club.

I am the Chairman / President of the Leicestershire Badminton Association and have additional roles as 2nd, 3rd and 4th County Team Manager. I am also the Leicestershire Badminton Association Secretary and the Honorary County League Secretary. I attend as many motorcycle race meetings with my son as feasibly possible, including British Superbikes and the one Moto GP race per year held at Donnington Park. During the winter months my wife and I travel all over the country to watch both County and International Badminton matches. I enjoy eating out and doing Sudoku.

My name is Alan Oldham...

My name is Alan Oldham...

I am a Sales Engineer selling our own Flextraction brand of articulated extraction arms as well as all the TEKA, Fumex, Kiekens and Sodeca products. I split my time between visiting customers and preparing quotations and estimates in the office.

I joined the Company in August 2004 and my main function is to obtain as many orders as I can from enquiries generated. During my time here, I have built up very good relationships with our customers and I have seen many different applications for our products, so I feel I am continually learning about our industry.

I live in Loughborough and like my colleague David Clanchy, I am also a Leicester City supporter, but not a season ticket holder.

I do quite a bit of coarse fishing and keep tropical fish and when the opportunity arises, I play the odd game of golf.
